1985 - 2009
Magnificently mentored for the first 19 years of his career, and inspired by the power of lunch-and-learns.
Jamie Lord, the founder of JAMM TRAIN, grew up professionally surrounded by generous leaders who believed in learning, experimentation, and finding joy in meaningful work.
Over nearly two decades, Jamie worked across several countries, establishing and running offices for a major multinational in Brisbane, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Singapore. Along the way, he discovered that the moments that mattered most weren’t the titles or targets; they were the shared learning moments.
In the year 2000, while leading an office in Shanghai, Jamie introduced Friday lunch-and-learns. What started as an informal experiment quickly became a catalyst for growth, connection, and confidence across the team.
When Jamie later searched for leadership training to support his emerging leaders, he realised just how powerful great learning experiences could be.
That realisation sparked a lifelong commitment to developing people through practical, joyful, and impactful learning...

2010–2017
When one-size-fits-all worked… until it didn’t
On April Fool’s Day in 2010, Jamie took a leap of faith and became a licensee of an international training organisation, delivering a highly innovative, one-size-fits-all leadership and sales development program for frontline managers and emerging leaders.
For several years, the model worked well. Participants were engaged, teams improved, and organisations saw real results.
But the world was changing fast.
As technology accelerated and distractions multiplied, it became clear that standardised training could only take people so far.
Leaders needed learning that reflected who they were, the context they worked in, and the challenges they faced every day. Customisation wasn’t a nice-to-have anymore — it was essential for real impact.
Recognising this shift, Jamie made a bold decision. In 2017, he stepped away from the franchise, enjoyed some gardening leave to build something new; an independent company designed around personalised development, practical application, and genuine joy in learning with quantiable results.
That decision marked the evolution of JammTrain as it is today.
